Why is diabetes camp important?​

Type 1 diabetes presents unique challenges. KDKC helps kids to learn to deal more effectively with the daily demands of type 1
diabetes and with developing skills needed for responsible diabetic management care and independent living.



Why is diabetes camp fun?

Camp is place where kids can just be kids. It is designed to be a week of fun, giving campers an opportunity to build new relationships with other kids living with type 1 diabetes. The KDKC
helps them see that they can still do everything that kids like to do.

How do kids learn at diabetes camp?
Throughout the week campers work closely with trained and experienced counselors, medical personnel, and dietitians to learn more about their diabetes and diabetes management in a casual, non-clinical environment. Representatives from diabetes technology companies are present to share and expose campers to new diabetes technologies.
